According to the company, in dozens of Russian cities there will be traffic jams on Google Maps, and in dozens of the company has expanded the road coverage, where you can see information about traffic jams in real time. All these data will be taken into account not only at the moment when the user is building a route, but also while driving along it. The improvements have affected many cities, both million-plus cities (for example, Volgograd and Yekaterinburg), and with a smaller population (Kaluga, Pskov and others).
Secondly, thanks to the increased coverage, Google Maps should significantly improve the quality of routing. Now when building a route, not only current traffic jams will be taken into account, but also those that will appear on your way in the future.
"Imagine: on Friday evening you leave the house for the country. The route is long and, of course, there will be traffic jams along the way. But will they grow or decrease over time? When plotting a route, Google Maps will calculate where traffic jams may occur or decrease in the future, and will build it in advance in such a way as to avoid the most difficult sections on the road," the company said. The feature will work on both phones and computers.
Google Maps allows you to choose the best route in advance, taking into account the "historical traffic pattern". "Just go to Google Maps, specify your destination and specify the time when you need to either leave or already arrive at the desired location. The system will calculate approximately how long the route will take, taking into account traffic jams typical for this day and time of day," the company notes.
