Even more than cyclists, Humanising Autonomy will help to cut accidents with pedestrians too!
So What is Humanising Autonomy?
Humanising Autonomy is a startup from London. Its team works on creating a program capable to predict maneuvers of cyclists and pedestrians, and also to reacting on dangerous road situation 2 seconds over human. Exactly that of a time that usually not enough to prevent a tragedy.
Now Transport for London is already testing this software with buses, since they are especially dangerous to cyclists because of their big blind spots. Short move clip shows how the algorithm sees people on the streets.
The developers claim their system can read body language and is able to understand how aware a person on the street acts, does he see all the risks around or is he distracted for some reason. Specialists have been working on creating Humanising Autonomy for two years, and have achieved the algorithm being capable of predicting people behavior in different parts of the city. Like, in the center where there is a lot of cyclists and pedestrians, they more prone to break the rules.
However, British transport safety experts conclude counting on technologies alone is not a good idea. If a driver acts irresponsibly, no computer can fix that.
